At Lightship you’ll have noticed we talk about ‘moving communication’. This is because we create motion graphics, technical and character animation for corporate presentations in all electronic media.
But we also create fine designs for print and we hope that this work is ‘moving’ in the sense that it makes your audience respond in the way that you want them to respond.
Finally, we believe communication design is more science than art. One of the theories of design we like very much is Bruce Mau’s idea that a book (and for that matter any ’static’ design) is a time-based medium. As the reader opens the book, turns the pages and scans across the images and text, their perceptions and expectations are continually updated, reinforced or denied in much the same way as they would be watching a film: all communication is therefore ‘moving’.
